The Role of D. immitis in Feline Inflammatory Lung Disease

Ray Dillon, DVM, MS, MBA, DACVIM

June 24, 2014 1:00 pm ET

About the seminar

This webinar will review the clinical consequences of feline heartworm infections including the abbreviated infection which does not develop into adult worms. Heartworm-Associated Respiratory Disease (HARD) is the most common consequence of infection and the radiographic and diagnostic findings are difficult to differentiate from other respiratory disease of cats. The interpretation of antibody and antigen testing for cats is distinctly different than heartworm testing in dogs. The consequences of early stages of heartworms, even precardiac stages, have not previously been considered in clinical medicine. The new data will provide insight for the participants to better interpret the radiographic, serologic and clinical signs of cats with respiratory disease.
